Introduction to The Mind
Introduction to The Mind
The mind (psyche) and the physical body (soma) combine to form a living being. The body shows that a person is present in the space of the environment. The mind is only known to the individual and not physically seen. Both the mind and body greatly influence each other.
The mind is the true center of the person’s universe. It filters the events of life through the person’s beliefs and experiences; thus, giving each person a unique viewpoint on an event. This is the reason why people involved in an accident can react differently and report different ideas of what happened.
Everyone is familiar with the conscious part of the mind. That is where you function through out your day. Here you make your plans, carry on conversation with others, think about problems and carry on conversations with yourself. This seems to be the most important part of your brain to most people; however, in reality it is not the part that really influences you.
The most important part of the brain is the large subconscious mind buried deep inside. It is here that routine daily actions are carried out. Essential functions are found here like heart beats, breathing, food digestion, learnt skills like walking, muscle control for movement and daily habit used.
This is also seen as the automated center since no conscious thought is required for these functions to be performed.

Influencing the Subconscious Mind
The importance of the subconscious mind is now seen as having more influence over everyday life than the conscious mind. This has led to different techniques research to influence the subconscious for a better life. Many people have been successful in bringing about their desired results by using some of the following common known techniques:
1. Chants to use daily
2. Visualizing the outcome
3. Creating vision boards with pictures and words of your achieved goal.
4. Practicing new ways to replace old inefficient or dangerous habits
Science has not been able to provide any single method that will influence the subconscious for everyone. The key seems to be each person must use their own unique method or technique since reactions to the same event are so varied.
